Victorian Age

In British history, the Victorian age was the period of Queen Victoria's reign from 1837 until 1901. It was a long period of peace, prosperity, refined sensibilities and national self-confidence. It iwas also a time for a great interest in and expansion of the arts. Jewelry during this time was both bold and detailed. After the Queen was widowed, jewerly became darker and more sombre. The Etruscan, Egyptian, Classical and Renaissance revival styles reflect the Victorian fascination with ancient ivilizations and jewelry from the past.
